- In October, 2011, a teenage girl named Jillian decided that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of her peers. Being inspired by the short stories of sixbillionsecrets.com, she came up with the idea of My Hands, My Life.
The idea of My Hands, My Life is simple; when you're feeling low, write on your hand something that keeps you strong, keeps you going, and most importantly, something that makes you smile. If it is written on your hand, you're more likely to look at it throughout the day and remember why you're staying strong. You can write something as silly as a color, or a song lyric with a deeper meaning to you. It doesn't matter what it is as long as you know what it means to you.
Since starting My Hands, My Life, Jillian has gained ten admins to help with the facebook page, tumblr, youtube, and now, teenhelp profile. Bethany, Isabel, Lily, Emily, Emmy, Travis, Kennedy, Nadia, Shellbe, and Erin are the administrators alongside Jillian, and the varying ages and experiences among them have helped made MHML what it has become.
While the administrators are important, the community that partakes with the organization shape us even more than how eleven teenagers could. We're branching outside of facebook and youtube now, starting a novice tumblr and a teenhelp profile we hope to expand our community further, and we would love to see you a part of it.
We're here to help in any way that we can, and while we can't promise fantastic help, we can promise we'll try, listen, and lend a shoulder to cry on.
