About Me

- About me
- I was born in the beautiful and unique Austin, TX. For those of you that have never been to Austin before there is a shortage of native Austinites in this town so I am proud to be one. I've lived all over Austin and in many different houses and apartments. Each part of Austin has it's own special charm to it, but I really prefer South Austin to any other parts.
I've been a gamer ever since my tiny toddler fingers could grip a controller. I remember the first game that I got a hold of was a flight simulator game with a joystick. I had no idea how to actually play the game but the joystick intrigued me to the point where I would carry it around to enhance my imaginative experiences when I was not at the computer. I then moved on to console gaming, my favorite games were on the Super Nintendo. I am still obsessed with the Mega Man series! As time progressed I became more infatuated with first person shooters. I started with Wolfenstein and went on to Doom and then Quake. The game that sealed my fate as a gamer forever was Half-life. I still go back and play the original Half-life as it is easily the game that revolutionized the first person shooter industry. I became obsessed with Counter-Strike for a time but I made it out alive! I also had a few run ins with various MMO's, Everquest being the worst addiction, but I broke free of those habits.
I started playing D&D at a younger age with my Latin teacher Mr. Vincent and eventually expanded out to many other tabletop RPGs. We started out playing Warhammer 40k, I became a big fan of the Blood Angels. I've always liked the idea of charging into battle in a bloodthirsty rage with power swords swinging. He had an impressive amount of minis and rulebooks for various RPG tabletop games. I had heard of D&D before but I had only gotten to play it once. I had played as a fighter who with the help of a fire mage infiltrated a bandit layer and rescued a powerful noble woman. It was a blast, but the guy I was playing with at the time had to move out of town and I never got the chance to play again. My teacher happily let me join their current D&D group and I've been rolling 20s ever since!
I am comfortable with myself and all my imperfect qualities. What I would pride myself on is my sense of humor. There is never a dull moment to be found while I prowl the room. I am quick on my feet so you can always expect to find a witty comment if you jest with me.
I am a much better at listening then talking. I very much enjoy listening to peoples problems and giving them my council, though I don't force them to talk to me. I will tell them that I am hear for them but it is up to them to use me if need be. I have never really used anyone as support for my own troubles. I have recently discovered the benefits of talking it through with someone but I am still learning to really trust and talk to friends.
I love music. All shapes, sizes and rhythms I am currently playing bass guitar in a band. We had a lead singer but he was lost to a "girl friend". A tragic loss but we are still advancing into Austin's music scene.
I can't stand intolerance. The hatred of anything on this earth is disgusting. I believe that there are two emotions on this earth. Love and fear. From fear stems hatred and ignorance. If only people would make the effort to put themselves around what they dislike with an open mind. Only then could they could grow to love it. But I don't expect that many people to have that much willpower.
The method of critical thinking has become something of a religion for me. When one gains the ability to see things from every conceivable angle, one gains a new understanding for life. Once you can see it from all sides you can show compassion to others. Many people "feel sorry" for others less fortunate than themselves. This is just a clever way of putting yourself on a podium above said person so that you may look down on them like some sort of God. The definition of compassion is a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. The second part is where most people fall short. They let others suffer in silence when they could go the extra mile and help them out. Whenever I get into a quarrel with someone I always ask them one thing after wards. "How can I be a better friend?" I have yet, to this day, heard someone ask that question to me. But how can someone get better at something when they have no idea how to do it.
I follow a simple sentence for my life. "Live, love, laugh and be happy." I can't say that I stray from this path at times but I aim to make it a reality.
