Question Don't know what to do.. - July 28th 2012, 07:02 PM

So..heres my story. I've never actually reached out for advice on this, and I really need it. My boyfriend has been depressed for quite a few months. One day he'll be really happy and the next day he's super suicidal. When he gets suicidal, I get really scared. I can usually talk him out of it and calm him down. But things are getting worse. He won't even text me sometimes. Today is one of his bad days. He won't text, call, and he deleted his facebook. I'm really scared. I don't know if I should tell someone or go to his house or what. I'm afraid that if I call his mom and tell her then he'll never talk to me again. But the question is..is it worth it? Should I tell her even if he refuses to talk to me ever again? I just don't know what to do..

Yes, this is one of the times when you need to tell his mom or another trusted adult. He might be mad, but it's better than what could happen if you don't say anything. He needs professional help and telling someone is the only way he's going to get that. Chances are he won't stay mad forever, and that's if he gets mad at all.

Hi there.

Im sorry that things are rough for you, its a bit of a sticky situation. But honestly, if you are serisously worried he will commit suicide or hurt himself, I think you need to tell someone, whether thats his parents or even the police. Someone needs to ensure that he is safe and that he is okay. And yes, at first he might be mad at you but I feel positive that he'll understand why you told someone after a while. You need to make sure hs is safe.

And remember to look after yourself too. If it all gets too much, we're here for you.
