anyone here ever beat depression? - August 28th 2012, 06:31 AM

hey everyone
i hope you're all doing o.k.
i just wanted to know if any of you has ever managed to beat depression? i think i've been doing pretty well so far. there's one thing that's been bugging me. it's been in the background for a while. it's this feeling of noticing that i'm not seeing the world like i used to see it. i know that i shouldn't want to see the world the same way all my life, but i don't think that's the problem. it's like everything isn't as vivid as it should be, and this gives me the feeling that something's wrong. i used to describe it as the world not being "real." recently one day randomly my friends and i were talking about something, and the subject of depression came up - one of my friends described it as just not experiencing things as much. which i think is what i'm feeling. have any of you gotten back to vividly seeing the world? is this feeling even something that you would feel if you were depressed? am i even asking the right questions? thanks for any help.

Sincerely

-Serendipity

Everyone sees the world in a different way. It just depends on what happens to you in life. I was depressed in the 7-9th grade. After that I found a best friend and i told her everything.. She helped me out i couldn't have done it myself!!! But after you are out of depression you still face the aftermath of it (in a way). You never see the world the same way again. Getting out of depression is very hard and requires a lot of effort. You have to know how to communicate your problems and not keep it bottled up inside. You need a supporter to help you and listen to you even though you may not be on your good side then.
But you always see everything in a darker way. its like you see everything but not as vividly as you did as a child. The shadows stalk you sometimes.
Now I am a college freshman and I am free of depression
I hope I answered your questions. If I haven't or if you have more questions you could always PM me and I would be glad to answer them

I personally don't think that the way you see the world is a major factor of depression. I don't always see the world "vividly", but that's because I have am constantly thinking in "theoretical physics" ways, so I don't even think this "reality" is real anyway
But it can be something that happens a lot. I don't see things "vividly" on a regular basis (Lol, I sound like a nutty), but when I do get depressed, I do see things out of perspective and foggy. I don't feel things as much, and I only feel the sadness in everything around me.

Depression doesn't usually bother me too much (any more at least) because I've mostly learned how to push the thoughts out of my head, or talk myself out of being sad. So basically, I have learned how to deal with it. It definitely does hit me *hard* occasionally.

Hope that made sense, and I hope that doesn't make me sound too mad

Lots of Love!
Abigail
