Second suicide attempt
So recently I made my second and quite serious attempt at suicide, Im not quite sure where I go from here. Im on prozac but Im not seeing a therapist and my family dont really want to talk about it, I feel like I'll end up reverting back to where I was. Im just not sure what to do.

Re: Second suicide attempt
Hi there.

I'm sorry to hear things are rough for you right now although I think it's great you have felt able to come to us here at Teenhelp and I hope that we can help you in some way.

Do you want to talk to us about why you attempted suicide? Are you generally feeling low, has something been going on, has something happened in the past which still upsets you? I know talking about things can be really hard but we're honestly just here to help you, okay? We're not going to judge you but we'll listen and we'll try our best to help you through what ever it is you are going through. Of course you don't have to tell us anything you don't want too and we won't push you into doing so but we are here if you do want to talk about it :)

It's good that you're on medication and that you've been willing to try it. I'm assuming your doctor prescribed you this medication. I'm wondering how long you have been on it for now as it can take several weeks to start properly working. However if you have been in it for a long period of time maybe you can go back to your doctor and explain how things are for you right now and that you don't feel as if the medication is helping. Different meds work differently for different people and it might be that your dose needs changing or it might be that your doctor wants to start a different one to try and help you.

If you think that therapy/counselling is something you need and feel as though this might help you, then reach out for that help. Talk to your doctor, look into clinics, search for organisations. It would be absolutely wonderful for you to have the support of your family but I think regardless of whether you do or not, you need to do what is best for YOU. Because you do deserve help. And you're eighteen so you won't need parents permission - they won't even need to know if you don't want them too but I do think it's incredibly important for you to speak up and get the help you need. You need to think about yourself in this too, okay?

I know things are real tough for you right now but things won't be this way forever. Things can and they will change and you can start to feel better and get out of this, okay? You're worth so much, don't stop fighting.

Take good care of yourself :)
