Does crying help you? - November 29th 2012, 10:29 PM

Crying seems to help me. If I'm depressed/really stressed a good cry seems to help. It just makes me feel better and helps me think clearly.

Sometimes, I suppose...

It usually just makes me feel "dead" inside, like I'm numb and have no feeling...although sometimes it does make me feel better. I guess it really depends on what its about.

Crying never really helps me. A lot of the time I find myself unable to cry, like my tears are just all dried up :/

I can make myself cry really easily. I can cry even if I feel fine. In a sense I could be a decent actress.

My cries only last literally like a minute or two and spring out of nowhere. But they never make me feel any better. *sigh* I wish I knew how to start feeling better

Crying for me awful. I hate to do it. I really do. I just feel like complete crap for it.
Every once in a while, I DO feel better after crying, but not often.

For me, crying brings up too many emotions. It may be over nothing, but once I start, past upset and pain come through in tears and completely overwhelms me. Not good!

It depends. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it makes me feel worse.

I struggle to cry out of nowhere so if I feel like I need to cry then I'll watch a sad film and that'll help me to cry.

Buuuut, if I'm watching a sad film and it makes me cry then I find it hard to stop so unless I want to cry it makes me feel worse. I hope this makes sense >.>

Not often. Most of the time it just makes me feel worse. Sometimes I can let it all out and feel better afterwards, but not usually.

I find it either really helps or it makes me feel worse but at the same time tired and I'll often fall asleep and actually when I wake, I feel better. If that makes sense

Crying makes me feel awful sometimes, but I think that's good for me because it's an emotion and I'm expressing it healthily. It always makes me feel really tired though, crying is such an effort for me because I hardly ever am able to do it.

It really doesn't get me anywhere to cry. Like its not going to fix my problems. But it is a way to let out my emotions.

Re: Does crying help you? - November 30th 2012, 10:37 PM

I've been dealing with handling my emotions a LOT lately and I mean a LOT. So one night my ex told me that he hated me and never wanted me to even look at him, ever again. I brushed it off like I didn't care, which I didn't...I don't think. But when I went inside my room to change, the tears just started coming and coming. And they haven't stopped since...well...last night actually was when I cried for like the third dozenth time. I'm not still grieving over a petty middle school breakup, it's family problems and having no way to vent it out except for crying.
To answer your question, crying doesn't guarantee that I'll feel better, but usually it does. Well...kinda. There are pros and cons to crying for me. The pros are that: It helps me sort of release my pain into my tears, helps me think things over (for some reason I think that when you cry you start thinking harder), and it sort of just helps me feel like I've released everything so now I'm kinda starting out fresh I guess? But the cons are: I never really cried my whole life, I stopped crying when I was about seven, only letting a few tears out here and there. So I made myself become a really strong-willed girl, and I never cried! But now, everything i cry, the tears make me feel like I've completely lost the awesome tough girl I used to be, and now I feel like some sensitive lunatic. Another bad thing is, since I've been crying every night now for about four weeks, I feel as if it's a regular thing to do. That's bad enough, as I don't get much time alone and sometimes the tears just start coming. But if I skip a night of crying, it makes me feel all filled up inside, like i'm going to burst at any moment, so sometimes I start crying during the day in FRONT of people. Also, crying makes me remember all the other times I've been sad or upset about something and cried over it, so it brings back those memories and makes me feel even more pain.
There's no escape when it comes to tears.

Crying usually helps me because it's a way to get my emotions out. I HATE crying in front of people, though (but I've gotten better and I let myself cry in front of a couple close friends).

Re: Does crying help you? - December 1st 2012, 03:18 AM

I do cry, it helps me feel relief since I have so many things bottled up. If I get really upset when everyone else is awake then I try my absolute best not to cry because I never feel comfortable enough to cry, even around family and especially other people. It makes me feel weak if I do. I can't cry in another room while others are awake either because my face always gets red afterwards and it's so easy to tell that I've cried.
So sometimes I cry in bed when I'm about to go to sleep that way nobody will know. But it makes me physically feel bad. Like I get a headache then I feel tired. O.o But hey, the tiredness is great because well, I'm in bed.
Sorry to sound so depressing in this post!

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I cry over everything whether I want to or not, but sometimes I feel better and most times it just gets me extremely tired and gives me a headache. So it really depends.

Well, crying releases stress hormones and it's actually good for you! (Who would've known?)

I personally think that it varies for everyone, and why they're crying.. If I'm crying about being stressed, it doesn't make me feel good because I still feel stressed and even more tired than before.
Otherwise, when I cry randomly, I'll be fine as long as I take a nap or do something to get my mind off of it.

Remember, it's different for everyone.
If you ever want to stop crying or bringing up bad emotions, just do something enjoyable (like watching a movie or walking).

For me, yes and no. Back when I was in middle school I suffered from depression due to severe physical and mental bullying from students at my school. Crying it out at night in my room made it a bit better, but now that I'm older and no longer depressed, I rarely cry. When I do, I usually call my boyfriend and cry it out to him. It's very comforting and he gives good advice, but at the same time I feel like a baby and I feel guilty for troubling and worrying him. It's a bit of a double edged sword in my case. :/

For me crying is usually a big help. Whenever I feel like I just can't handle things that are going on it feels way better to let it out. Then the only problem is when I just can't. I don't know why it happens, it's like I won't allow to let myself to cry for something that hasn't happened or has no reason to bother me. But yeah, most of the time crying helps a lot. You can feel a bit drained sometimes but it's usually better than almost exploding!

Crying is honestly something that's really hard for me to do. I have a really hard time letting out that much emotion at once. Most of the time, I'm just drained after I cry. There's not really any emotion left for a while.

I'm not a big fan of crying. Even when I'm really upset, I'd rather act upon aggression against objects rather than the tears. Crying just drains me of all energy, even if it's just for thirty seconds.
