try and sleep - January 3rd 2013, 12:21 PM

i lied in bed staying up and the ceiling trying to sleep rolled over and had a flashback to when i tried to kill myself. i put the prefix suicide cause i think they refer to like a warning so someone doesn't accidently read something they don't want. anyways i can't sleep, tof the flash backs. it's like i relived everything leading up to it in a few seconds. it didn't feel good...i'm a lil afraid to try again, and frankly i don't think i could fall asleep even if i wasn't afraid.

Re: try and sleep - January 3rd 2013, 03:19 PM

I'm sorry you've having a rough night and that you're struggling to sleep. I can definitely relate to that. If you're still awake and struggling, maybe it'd be a good idea to get up and do something for a little while? Maybe you could go downstairs, make a cup of hot chocolate and read for half an hour or something like that? Hopefully when you're tired enough, you'll fall to sleep without even realising it but for now, I don't see the point in trying to sleep, tossing and turning in bed, you know, when it probably just makes it worse.

Suicide is never the answer for anything or anyone. You have a whole life ahead of you and your future, can be what you make it. Just because you're not feeling so good now, doesn't mean it will last. It can get better and if you stay at it, work hard and keep fighting, you will get there and honestly, even though it's going to be hard and it's going to take time, you can get there and in the end it will be so worth it. Try setting yourself some goals and aims for the future. I think that might really help you.

And if you want to talk to us about anything, know that we're always here for you, okay? You're not alone in this and we'll always try our best to help you so don't suffer in silence.

Stay fighting, you can do this.

Hey there mate,

Believe me, I've had that a few times, but I hve insomnia so can't sleep anyway.
The best way to stop it from happening is keeping your mind on something else, don't give it the upper hand. Flachbacks suck, if you want you could possibly go to a therapist (if you aren't already) and talk it through.
Or, you can talk to me via PM/VM, email (JayShorrock911@gmail.com) or whatever

I'm glad you're enjoying the site and the advice you're getting

Take care,

Jay.

Hey there,

So sorry you're dealing with this... Just wanted to say that I'm sorry you felt so bad in the past to attempt and that I'm sorry you're having flashbacks now. Have you thought about talking to a counselor or a therapist about it? Or if it'd be more comfortable for you, maybe family/friends/relatives?

Sorry for the late post. So I just wanted to see if you felt any better or sleeping any better?

I'm here if you need to talk.

Stay Strong <3
