Not myself - February 8th 2013, 10:12 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I feel like I can't get on with life. I feel completely defeated and worn down. I'm sick of picking myself back up. There's only so many times you can before you just shut down. I'm not myself. I'm like a shadow of what I use to be like. I plastered a fake smile on my face but it gets exhausting. I just can't do it anymore. Too many bad things have happened. I'm constantly on the edge incase something else happens. Please help

Hey, Vicki, I'm Christabel. =)

I'm really sorry you're feeling like this. I can relate with the fake smiles and just feeling exhausted afterwards... I know after keeping everything to yourself it can be hard to talk to someone, but it'd really help, especially as bad as you're feeling. Do you have a therapist, friend, relative, sibling, or maybe talk to your parents about this? If it's difficult to come out and say it, writing it in a letter can help with the awkwardness. Talking about it can be scary but sometimes it can really help you. Can I ask how come you're feeling so sad and keeping things bottled up?

Distractions can sometimes help when you're feeling sad. Like...
  • Writing your feelings in a journal
  • Writing Poems
  • Writing short stories
  • Listening to music
  • Playing games
  • Watch TV
  • Watch a movie
  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Going for a walk
  • Photography
  • Play sports
  • Go biking
  • Go swimming

And hey, sunlight induces a natural chemical in your brain that helps you to have more positive emotions. So maybe keep your window shades open when you're inside during the day and go for walks, do outside activities etc. Fresh air can also help refresh your mind.

Hope I helped a bit, and I want you to know that even though life can get emotionally exhausting, it does get better even when it seems that it never will. You gotta keep faith and have hope. Never stop fighting. You're worth the fight, every second of it. Please talk to someone, you're worth recovery. You can PM/VM me anytime if you need someone to talk to. I'll gladly listen.

Stay Strong <3

~ Christabel
