Negative Suicidal Ideation?? - April 23rd 2013, 10:21 AM

I still feel a lot of mood swings and constantly find myself falling back into the dark hole. I have had a couple of suicide attempts. Lately, I have not thought much about the ways I could off myself or made detailed plans, but I still want to DIE and actually hope that I can get killed by someone or something (e.g. cancer, chocking and a car). Is this negative suicidal ideation? Does it mean that I have made sort of progression??

Hey, Kristin!

Sorry you're feeling this bad to have these thoughts in the first place. In my honest opinion, I think these thoughts are better than suicidal thoughts of killing yourself because it could possibly make you less of a danger to yourself. But you still don't deserve to have to live with these thoughts of wanting to be dead. You're a beautiful person and you deserve to be happy, to enjoy life and I believe you can make it to that goal one day. Can you speak with a psychiatrist or therapist about these thoughts? I think it might really help you.

I'm always here if you need someone to talk to as well, sweetie. Remember, you can do this. Always.

Hey Kristen
sorry you're feeling this way but it does sound like your making progress because now you don't feel like you want to do this to yourself.

I understand falling back into the dark hole.
It's like walking on a narrow beam
one thing even small things can trigger us to fall into a spell of despair and then we have to climb back out.
I've tried setting my phone alarms to certain times to remind me to be happy(sorta the reverse like a "happy" trigger)
Force yourself to get up early and look in the mirror and say "this is gonna be a good day"
Laugh at bad jokes or stupid incidents
smile no matter what even if your sad

These help me not fall in maybe they could help you.
