Hey there,

I see you are new, so welcome to TeenHelp!

You may find it better to ask questions about depression in the depression forum: http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f11-depression-suicide/

Depression can be overcome in a variety of different ways. Some may choose medication, therapy, making lifestyle changes or a bit of all these things.

If you are depressed, it is important to look after yourself, such as eating and sleeping regularly and maintaining hygiene. Try doing some exercise and make time to socialise with friends. Also, finding something you enjoy doing such as a hobby or activity can help you feel better. Allow to time relax and de-stress yourself by trying to organise your work and free time. Some things that might help you relax are a warm bath, reading a good book, watching a movie etc.

It is also very important to have a good support network too. Talking to friends and family can help a lot. Also, if you feel the depression doesn’t get better or gets worse, you could always try talking to other trusted in adults in your life such as a teacher or doctor, who can help you find services such as counselling and therapy.

Take care

Yeah, I mean someone told me yesterday that it is mainly a combination of many things, the development and improvement of personal habits, the employment of therapy methods such as councelling and in extreme cases, the introduction of medications as well. The important thing to remember as well is that every strategy is different for every particular person, so seeing your personal doctor is the first step to figure out what works for you, if you are showing some depressive characteristics.

I mean that's the answer I have, how to do you reduce or manage Depression? There are a number of ways and a unique combination of those techniques I referenced will see you come out the other side. I do thank you for your thread though! Speaking to us also tends to help.

I mean it takes an outstanding amount of trust to talk to us but if you ever need some advice or someone to talk to, don't hesitate to make a thread here, that's what we're here for, and that's also a possible part of the process, seeking asissstance. I wish you the best of luck.

Listen to Disney music or watch Disney movies. Music from the classic movies, not whatever else they got. I find it inspiring and uplifting. Theres a pretty good pandora station called disney songs and story that I really like. Im not depressed anymore, I mean its been a while, but im doing well even when I get sad.

Re: Depression - September 13th 2014, 10:18 AM

Depends what is making one depressed and the type, whether I'm just feeling at my weakest or mentally drained; it can be for various reasons, or for no reason at all... Sometimes I wait it out because better days eventually come up, I can read and work on my knowledge point, if I am able to I will reduce it by enjoying something simple and small, while at other times talking about it with one of the few people I trust can reduce it a bit... surprisingly sometimes eating some types of fruit will help me a bit, I'm not sure.
Of course, music helps since I'm crazy about it since I can remember. Depends what type works on the individual.
In my opinion though, depression can't be overcome once and forever. But I accepted that for myself.

I moved back while
my head was turned.

Upside down
closer to the end.

Afraid of the dark
within future times.

I'm drowning there,
my final chase.

Hey,

What helps me is getting out of bed even when I don't want to and doing things I like to do even though in that moment I don't want to do anything. So like drawing, walking, sports. I also listen to music and it helps a lot. You might also want to see a doctor and talk to them about your depression and hopefully they will help you too.
