It gets better! - July 14th 2015, 04:02 PM

I'm going to put this here, sorry in advanced to the staff if this isn't where it belongs.

Depression and thoughts of suicide are more damaging than most people will understand, unless they have been through it themselves or are going through it themselves. Even then, people that have been through it may choose to forget it, choose to wipe the horrible memories from existence. You may end up feeling alone, singled out, you may feel like you are walking in a hallway full of doors, but all of them are locked, and the hallway stretches on.

It gets better. You can talk to anyone on here, a therapist, and in some cases, just go outside and breathe in the fresh air. No matter how alone you feel, how many doors seem locked, there's always one door open. Everyone is different, and all you have to do is find your own door. Better yet, ask someone to help you find your door.

Some things that have helped me in the past and ideas that I will pass to this thread are: Long walks on forest trails, Poetry, Story writing, Therapy (personally couldn't use this one due to trust issues), finding a peer who understands and will help you work through it.

Hope I have helped anyone who reads this thread at least a little bit, and if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to inbox me. I wish you the best.

Thank you for sharing this. I always feel happy seeing positive threads in this forum because I bet it provides a lot of hope and inspiration for others who feel the way you have. I also think it's very kind of you to be offering to help others and also sharing advice.

You seem as you've been through your own share of troubles to know that it gets better, so I just want to let you know that you're welcome to seek support and advice anytime! I am glad that you're able to see that it does get better though, that's a really important thing to know, no matter how hard it gets that things do eventually get better.

Stay strong and stay hopeful. Take care!

Well you make several good points and brings up the fact that things can change because your perception changes when you reaarange your space (ex: taking a walk) this was helpful to read.
