Exclamation Life is a useless waste of time - November 5th 2017, 05:06 AM

I fucking hate life. I got so close to aattempting last night. I can't get away from my parents, because they keep me locked in side. They are so affraid of the fact that I might go smoke weed that I have to go home straight after school, and I get a drug test every week. I just want it to stop. For me right now, there is no point for me to be alive. I stopped trying, I barely eat, and I stopped playing guitar.(my therapist found this as a BIG red flag). I was also just diagnosed with a form of ADHD that is extra fun. My depression robs me of my motovation, and the ADHD makes it so that I can't focus on thingss, even when I have the motovation to do it. It seems like being alive is a huge waste of time, especcially since im never going to amount to anything.

Hey, I am sorry to hear things are difficult right now. Since you have a history of drug abuse, it's understandable that your parents are worried you will start using again. Perhaps you can sit down with them and talk about how you're serious about getting and staying clean? Maybe you can offer to join sports or do volunteer work to show them that you are willing to contribute to society. I think this will also make you feel useful and who knows, maybe you'll find something you'll want to do in the long run. Such as becoming a basketball coach or youth leader. A lot of people love stories of how a one time drug-addicted teen turned their lives around and "look at them today!" and that could be you. I know that sounds preachy and like a load of BS, but you won't know unless you try.

I think you should continue to talk to your therapist. If you aren't sure how to sit down with your parents and tell them how you're serious about staying clean/sober, then perhaps your parents can be invited into a session? I don't know how they feel about you being in therapy, but I don't see how that could hurt? Plus, if you feel scared they'll shut you down when you approach them alone, your therapist can act as a mediator in the session.
