I'm not good at anything. - June 7th 2018, 06:59 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I just found out that the only thing I practice at, video games, I'm not good at it. And even if I were good at something else, I wouldn't know. And until I find out, I'm stuck. Also, just because of my age, my friends are making fun of me. how wonderful.

It's not possible. Everyone is good at something. You just have to find it. Sometimes you know what you're good at but can't embrace it for any reason.

The secret is to ignore those who make fun of you. Find what you're good at and make that your career. I know it takes time may even take years. But once you find it, the success is immediate and skyrocketing.

People around you may look like they're doing a lot better than you but you can reach that level too. Focus on yourself and make yourself worth loving. If you don't love yourself how do you expect others to?

Hello,
I am so sorry that you are having a hard time with this right now and I hope you will be okay soon. I also agree everyone is good at something. And sometimes it just takes a little bit of time to figure out what it is. But believe in yourself, you can do different types of things and do not let everyone put it into you're head that you can't. I am so sorry that you're friends we're making fun of you, try not to let it upset you. Can you try telling them that it upsets you when they do that and see what they say. I hope you will be okay soon.

So, I have a question: what exactly does it mean to be "good at" something? Since you mentioned video games, let's focus on that. What criteria are there to be "good at" them? Is there a particular skill you want to master, or level you want to pass, or rank you want to reach? And is this all video games, or just particular ones? For example I've found that I'm appalling at fighting or action games, but I'm reasonably good at ones that are based on resource management. Maybe something similar is true for you, and the types of games you're playing at the moment just aren't where your strengths are. If you really want to get better at them, then practice is key - but don't be afraid to switch it up. For most games there are different ways to practice, so if one method isn't working for you then it's fine to try something else. One final thought on this note: why is it so important to be "good at" games anyway? Unless you want to go pro in anything, the main objective for most video games is simply to have fun. If you're doing that, then being good at it should be secondary.

To me, this seems like something to be excited about. You have skills and talents that you haven't even discovered yet! Everyone's good at something, or many things, and there's so much potential that you haven't tapped into. This is a good chance to go exploring, to try different hobbies and activities until you find ones you love and/or are good at (or are passionate enough about to practice and become good at). Feeding your curiosity is a great way to keep negative thoughts to a minimum, and you never know what you're going to find along the way. Maybe you could make a list of things you're interested in and then think about ways you could pursue them.

Have you tried talking to your friends about this? They may not be aware of how their words or actions are affecting you, and if you bring it up with them then they should be willing to change their ways to make you more comfortable. And if they're not then they may not be the kind of people you want to spend your time with anyway. Friends are supposed to encourage and care for each other, and if yours are making fun of you instead then there's nothing wrong with taking time away from them or looking for new friends. You deserve to be around people who respect you and your feelings.

In Splatoon 2, everyone finishes the Octo Expansion within a day. I still haven't gotten through half of it. In Zelda everyone finished. I'm still sitting here beating the first Lynel. In Black Ops III, I'm getting killed left and right, with a K/D of 2/10... i dont know what to do. this is the only thing i love.

I know how frustrating it is to feel like other people are achieving the same goals more quickly than you are, and the best advice I can give is this: remember that everybody needs to go at their own pace. There will always be people who are quicker or more thorough or more mechanically skilled than you are, but that shouldn't stop you from doing something you love. If you keep working towards it you'll keep getting better, and that should be the main objective - improving on your own performance, not comparing it to anyone else's. You can't always be the best at something, but you can always work hard to be your best.

Your not just going to be good at something bud. It takes time and trial and error. Any esport player didn't just become one because they out of no where became one. I know why you think your no good at video games. Same reason why after so many years of playing I thought I was crap even though I wasn't. It was because I so focused on other things which made me loose focus of what I enjoy. Don't try at so hard at what ever game your playing. Relax, get a drink and sit back and have fun playing the game. The more you think you suck and spend all day getting better gets you stressed and effects your skills.
