Lack of Self Care - July 28th 2018, 01:59 PM

Advice would very much be appreciated

Depression is being a real pain in the butt at the moment. I am working / house sitting and I do my job as best as I can but I've ditched my self care thingo. I keep my hair in a bun all the time and now I've got knots and patches of matted hair which is embarrassing as heck. I don't shower unless I have to go out. I'm contemplating cutting all of my hair off.

How can I look after myself better? How do I remind myself that I must look after myself? Does anyone have tips or tricks or even a morsel of advice?

I'm the exact same way as you. I work so much that every morning I just throw my hair up and go. What I've started doing is waking up a little earlier to make sure I brush my hair and teeth, if I want to put on make up etc.

I find it very challenging to shower in the morning, so I actually shower at night, I try for every other night especially if I'm working. I hope that this might help! I know it's hard when you have no energy, but you have to force yourself!

Maybe it would be best to imagine how you would like to look and then try to replicate that image .

Just an idea, but I don't know if it works for everyone.

It's called a tunnel because there's ALWAYS a light at the end.

rant to me if there's anything!

Thank you for your suggestions I went and got myself a hair cut last week and I now have pink tips throughout my hair - this encourages me to look after myself better. I had a lot of my hair cut off and I feel better.

I found an app called #SelfCare and I believe that it's on both platforms - iTunes and Play Store. I find it really soothing. There's a lot of things on there to help you focus or distract yourself. For example there's a flower that guides you to breathe in and out -- whether it's a calming breathing pattern which helps with anxiety/panic attacks or breathing patterns for sleep or even breathing patterns for focusing. I find it super duper helpful. There's even a cat on there that you can stroke, and it gives out purring sounds which in my experience it's super calming. It's a really great app and I have tried a lot of apps and this one takes the gold.
