Update on my life - August 19th 2018, 05:29 PM

Key recovering anorexic and I have lost 2 jobs this year through being dismissed.

Hi everyone I hope you are all well! I recently started a new job at Vodafone the phone company in the UK. I enjoy my job but once again I am on course to get sacked. I have had countless meetings in the office with my management team because I keep doing things wrong. I worked for Three as well a few months ago if you're not from England they are also another network provider like Vodafone. I was sacked from there because I was shit. I was also bullied out of my job at Tesco because the managers bullied me because of my learning disabilities.

I am quite upset over this I am generally upset over where I am in life this time last year I was told I was gonna die from anorexia and I don't feel like I have gained much in life like most people my age.

Why do I have so much bad luck in life just wanted a little rant really.

I'm sorry you've had a hard time with jobs and such, and that your anoreia has been such a struggle for you. These things are not easy to get through, but recovery is a process that sometimes has set backs and I'm confident that if you keep trying and working at it you can overcome them. I'm not too great on the anoreia stuff, so I'll leave that for someone with a bit more eperience, but know that I care and wish you the best with that.

With your current job, are you on a probation period? If so, it might be worth seeing if when you have a meeting next, you can have someone in as a witness to it. Doing things wrong doesn't mean you'll never get it right. Part of the issue there could lie with how they are training you. No two people learn the same way (I picked things up really slowly at my job too!), and it could just be that you need to be shown a few more times than others how to do things. That isn't an issue, but if they are not willing to train you as you need, having someone in the meeting to see and hear what they're saying, just in case it's unfair, could be a good idea. You could also just try having a one to one informal chat with a manager and letting them know that you're struggling a bit and could do with a bit of extra support. Maybe see if you can do a training day or if you can shadow someone (or better yet, have someone shadow you), so that you have on the job help with the things you're not so good at yet. It's a process, and sometimes a bit of extra support can make all the difference, especially if someone else can believe in you.

I can totally understand why you're upset and you're well within your rights to be. It can seem like bad luck is following you, but sometimes it's just people who don't want to spend the time helping you to do better. I'm sorry that this seems to be the case, but I want you to know that it wont always be like this, and I really hope you find a way out of this situation.

A paradox:
The things you donít need to liveó
books, art, cinema, wine, and so onó
are the things you need to live
