Obviously I'm not qualified to diagnose it... - February 4th 2019, 03:04 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

But I think I may have Recurrent Brief Depression. Last November, for about a week I felt out of it. From about a week ago to last Friday, I was ready to kill myself [REMOVED-METHODS] I'm out of that for the time being but I'm not sure if I should expect it again.

Hey there, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry you have not received a reply yet.

You say you have this disorder, but has it been diagnosed by a professional, such as a physician? I'm sure you know that we are not allowed to make medical diagnosis here on TeenHelp. I would advise against using Google or any other search engine to try to come to a conclusion as to what you may or may not have.

Please reach out to a professional therapist or trusted adult for support. We are more than happy to give you tips for coping and alternatives, but we are not allowed to diagnose you.

If you need to reach out again, then please feel free to do so.

Best of luck.

00Hey there,

I'm sorry to hear what you've been going through. I want to say that I'm so glad you're safe and are feeling better for the time being.

Do you currently see a therapist? If not, I encourage you to reach out to someone. I know that you said you were experiencing suicidal thoughts, and it's important that you have support to help get you through this if they do end up coming back. Even if you're feeling better now, a mental health professional will be able to diagnose you and give you a clearer picture of what is happening, and they can also teach you skills to cope if it does return.

I know you said you're not sure whether you should expect it again, but given the severity of the symptoms you experienced, I would take steps to help ensure your safety, just in case. Nobody wants you to get hurt! And remember: your experiences are valid and deserve to be taken seriously, no matter how long they last.

I hope this helps a bit. Stay safe and take care!
