Something I've learnt during my experiences. - May 13th 2019, 04:01 PM

I've went through my fair share of trials and tribulations. However, I guess I can effectively say that

1 The more interests you have, the better.

2. Don't feel bad about gaining a new interest (such as food for that matter. It's one of my faves). You might find yourself happier than you were before if you manage to find some enjoyment in something new.

3. Every day's an adventure. Don't feel bad about anything. After all, you'll have more days and time to have fun and avoid any previously made mistakes.

4. For the record, food rocks. Don't feel bad about enjoying a meal you like. It's something that'll cheer up a lot of people.

Stay lovely, fine and dandy y'alls!

You guys deserve to be happy no matter what.. okay? You people are a bunch of lovelies ... and no matter what, you people deserve to be happy.

I love this so much!! I completely agree with everything you've written here! I especially love the part about not being afraid to gain new interests, as that is something that I have struggled with in the past. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and there have definitely been times when my perfectionism prevented me from pursuing something that I was really interested in.

Awesome insights, and awesome post! Thanks so much for sharing!

No problem I just felt like the biggest mistake one can make is to fall into one of those " I don't deserve to enjoy anything " phases because no one needs to ever do that to themselves. You guys deserve way better than that.

No one can be perfect, but it's better that way. Being perfect means not being able to grow anymore, but the wonderful thing about being imperfect is the fact that we'll never stop growing.

After all, who said you only have to go through one door? You can try out many at once. All of them could lead to a better future

I don't mean a party-pooper here. I think it's great you have such an optimistic, upbeat outlook on life. That's great, and nobody should tell you how you should live your life, so good for you!

But, not everyone has the same outlook. It's not a "phase" as you put it. There are numerous circumstances that lead them to being in a dark, depressed, despondent state of mind. While for some, it may be temporary such as going through financial struggles or an illness in the family; but for others, depression has been a part of their life since adolescence and even earlier.

Remember: recovery isn't linear. We all dream of recovery, we all wish we can be functional human beings who can prosper in society. But it takes a lot of exhaustive work to get there. It's much easier to stay in our hidey holes and just commiserate.

That isn't to say we are lazy. We still go along with the motions, but our brains are just... not with it.

For me, recovery is a scary thing. Knowing that I can be a functional human being in society. I'm sure for those who truly are looking forward to be rid of their struggles think the same thing. But it'll always be a part of us. Our struggle, our depression are still a part of us. Whether it's in our past or present.

But for you, I'm glad you were able to get past your dark times. Remember, you can still reach out if you ever have to.

Thanks! Well, I guess part of me just wants to have responsible, clean fun. Part of me still definitely feels like helping others for sure!
