Stopping Trying - September 27th 2009, 08:08 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I can't do this.

I don't want to live.

It's all stress and effort. And none of it's worth it. I keep on pretending. I keep on trying. Why? Why should I bother any more?

I just am fed up. I can't carry on. I don't want to. I want to give up.

I don't know. It's been like this so long. I just don't want to waste the effort for any longer.

I can't tell you why you should bother, just that you should. The 'why', the purpose, is something that (as you probably know) you'll have to find for yourself- but please realize that you're not thinking straight right now if you think giving in is the only option. There are always other options. It is hard, but there are rewards. It's not all stress and effort all the time.
If that's the way it feels for you (and I know the feeling, believe me) there are ways to lessen the stress. Effort isn't something you need to minimize. There are a million (non-harmful, I must stress) ways to lessen the stress- some of them are things that seem weird or unnecessary at first, like therapy, and others are simple things like talking to someone or changing your life (moving elsewhere, for example, which if you're 14 probably isn't a possiblity yet) and your focus.
Please stick around, Faye, the effort isn't wasted. It really, really isn't. There are a lot of people on this site (not to mention the world beyond) who can attest to that.
