Tired of my life in general. - November 6th 2009, 08:22 AM

So, my first semester of college is almost over, and I'm pretty bored with it... These General Education classes are not interesting at all, and the electives I'm able to choose have nothing to do with my major or minor.

I'm bored at home, and I'm bored with friends. Actually, bored might not be the right word. I'm sick of being at home, and sick of being with friends. To make things worse, I can't find a job, so I can't move out.

I don't want to be anywhere near my friends. I don't want to hear them talk, or even read at text message from them. I've only got a solid group of 5-6 people I hang with, and I just don't want to hang with them at the moment...

But that leaves my house, pretty much. I'm fucking tired of being home with my parents, because they're such frustrating people. They annoy the shit out of me. (Durp, teenager that hates his parents.)

Yes, I get out besides hanging with friends. I go running/jogging/walking almost every day. I'm even tired of doing this now, because I can never find somewhere interesting to go. I've been almost everywhere within 10 miles of my house.

The only time I feel happy is when I can be perfectly alone and listen to music. If I can do that, life becomes sublime. Give me 100 years alone in a white room with some pleasant music, and I'd be just dandy.

I'm not going to commit suicide, because I love life far too much... I just wish I wasn't so god damn tired of mine. Any suggestions on how to get around this?

General Education courses are pretty boring. But you should be able to chose your own electives so that you can make it a more interesting semester. For example, I am a social work major and im taking a lot of General Ed classes this semester (economics and computer science-yuck haha) but in order to get in something that i am interested in, i am taking an elective in social psychology- because i am very interested in why people do what they do. next semester try to take at least one class that you find interesting. also maybe join a club or activitiy at your college. thats one way that you can kinda mix things up.

Hey there,

I'm sorry that you're feeling tired of your life right now, I can understand how that must be well, tiresome, and frustrating, it's good that you do recognise that you have the ability to change this though.
I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about General Education classes so I'm hoping that the helpful post above should reassure you with that, it seems to be a pretty good reply in regards to that.
Why are you sick of being at home and sick of being with friends? Can you identify why you don't want to be around poeple at the moment? It's okay not to want to be around people all of the time, we all need time to ourselves. However, it's important not to isolate yourself and to continue meeting and talking with people, whether it is the friends you have now or new people. If you think you'd benefit from gaining new friends then it wouldn't be a bad idea to get out of your house and try and socialise with people, try and join a club and integrate with new people. That way, you wont have to be bored at home and you'll be around new people.
If you're tired of running/jogging/walking around your area then you could try and join some sort of athletics or other sports team so you won't be alone whilst you're doing that. You could treat yourself to a day trip out of your city once in a while.
It's very good that you do recognise why you love life and that there are things, such as listening to music, that you do enjoy. Indulge in that when you can each day. Think about what makes you love your life and remind yourself of those things every day, write a list of reasons.

Take care of yourself.
