love suicide. - November 11th 2009, 05:18 AM

I've liked a close friend for four years, i've loved her for the past two years. she doesn't love me. she's straight. I'm gay. I feel so guilty for liking her. she knows, she told me she doesn't like me back. that happened last christmas. we are still close friends, and hang out together almost everyday at college with two other friends.

the pain, the feelings of guilt are making me want to die. to leave her forever. to not feel the pain, and to not hurt her like I am by loving her.

Hey there, Brittany!

I'm really sorry things haven't worked out the way you would have liked them to with this friend of yours. I know it must be very difficult to love somebody so much and have them not return the feelings in the same way.

But what you have to realize is that it's not the end of the world. I know it must be tough, and I know it's not easy to get your head around, but it's absolutely not a reason to end your life. While this girl might not care about you in a romantic way, she's still your friend and she still loves you.

Leaving her would hurt her more than you being here and being in love with her. What if she blamed herself? What if she went through her whole life blaming herself and being hurt by the fact that she caused you to end your life? It's just not worth it. I know it's difficult, but you need to try to accept it, and move on. There will be other people. There will be other girls. Don't feel guilty about loving this friend of yours, you can't help your feelings.

It's not easy, but you can move past this. Suicide is most certainly not an option. Life will get better, honestly. Just hang in there and take good care of yourself.

She would be anything but happy...I am sure she would never want to lose you in any way, let alone in every way. Sure it must suck to love her and to not have that reciprocated, but you can't let that ruin every aspect of your life. Your life is much bigger than one relationship, you can't let that define your life and paint it so darkly...you've got so much life ahead of you, so many new people to meet, and many many gay people that you can get to know. I promise one person does not define your life. You can be okay, and I can promise you that she would not be happy, she would be happy to see you fight through and lead a life where you show the world that you can do whatever you want and that you can bounce back from a lovesick heart. I believe in you
