depressed..): - February 15th 2010, 03:41 AM

i think im depressed. ive been showing some of the symptoms:
Sadness or hopelessness
Irritability, anger, or hostility
Withdrawal from friends and family(yesterday there was a party which i was gonna go to and all my friends were gonna be there but then like 2 minutes before it started i decided not to go, for no reason)
Loss of interest in activities
Changes in eating and sleeping habits (ive been sleeping so much these days)
Fatigue or lack of energy ( so tired all the time)
i also keep having these mood swings. and i used to cut myself before and im thinking of doing it again. but i dont want to be depressed. i just want to be normal. but im not normal. im not pretty, some people think im weird, im like the odd one out in my group of friends and ugh! my family arnt much help either, especially my brother. i cant wait till he goes to college.
i hate my life so much ):

These are also normal symptoms of something else. Hormones. You're a teenager, your hormones are going to fluxuate.

If you're concerned, go to your doctor about it. But unfortunately, depression symptoms are alot like symptoms of being a teenager. May be nothing you can do about it except just, endure it, really.

These are the symptoms for depression:
Feelings of sadness or unhappiness
Irritability or frustration, even over small matters
Loss of interest or pleasure in normal activities
Reduced sex drive
Insomnia or excessive sleeping
Changes in appetite depression often causes decreased appetite and weight loss, but in some people it causes increased cravings for food and weight gain
Agitation or restlessness for example, pacing, hand-wringing or an inability to sit still
Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements
Indecisiveness, distractibility and decreased concentration
Fatigue, tiredness and loss of energy even small tasks may seem to require a lot of effort
Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or blaming yourself when things aren't going right
Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things
Frequent thoughts of death, dying or suicide
Crying spells for no apparent reason
Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches

These are the basic, or the most frequent symptoms of depression. Mostly, if you have more than one of these symptoms, there is a likely chance you do.

While you walk away with the frosting of my heart
So I'm taking back what's mine, you'll miss
The slice of heaven that I gave to you last night

Hey Meera,
Sorry to hear you are feeling this way. I just want you to remember, we aren't doctors here so we can't diagnose you with depression or anything. If you would like to be diagnosed or get help for yourself, I strongly suggest you go to a doctor.
Take care,
Alessa

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.

Hey there,

I think that, for the most part, we know when there is something wrong with our bodies. However, we may be thinking it is one thing and it is really another, you know? But, I think the best thing you can do is go and talk to your doctor. Let him or her know what is going on and I am sure they will be able to help you figure it all out.

The thing is, no matter what, if you are dealing with depression or something else you do not want to go at this alone. You need a support system to help you through you rough times. So, I would also recommend that you talk to your friends and family about the way you are feeling.

Please hang in there and if you need anything feel free to pm me.

Jenna

Realize that depression is diagnosed if those symptoms are occurring consistently for 2 weeks and beyond, if you want to get technical.

Regardless of what it is or isn't, dealing with those kinds of feelings can be difficult. If you think going to your doctor and seeing what they think would help, definitely make sure to do that. Or even go to a counselor or trusted adult who could help you sort out how you're feeling. As far as your family is concerned, the best thing in that situation is pick and choose your battles and try not to let the small things get to you. Some things you just have to let be.
