Unhappy Struggling with depression - March 2nd 2010, 11:01 PM

Hwy guys i have been having thoughts of depression and suicide for about a year now what do i do?

Hey Coby,

Have you spoken to an adult (parent, relative, doctor, pastor, counsellor) around you? I would advise you do that, they can give you the help and support you need, especially if you are feeling suicidal. We are all here for you on TH but I think you should get some support around you in real life, it can help massively.

Could you look in the Alternatives thread (click here) and see if you can find any ways to let your emotions out in a healthy way.

Hi there, Coby!

It's great that you've managed to come here and open up about how you're feeling. It's a really positive step forward!

Anna has given some very good suggestions. Talking to someone that you can trust about how you're feeling can be very beneficial to you and should allow you to talk through how you're feeling and perhaps see if there's any specific issues in your life that need to be addressed. Venting your emotions can be very helpful, it isn't healthy to bottle things up. Even just writing in a journal could be helpful for noticing triggers or things that make you feel better. Do you think that you could give that a try?

i dont think you should kill yourself, and i dont know whats wrong with people, i dont think this will help, i just thought you might want to know that i have the same thoughts, i dont think this can help you, it doesnt help me, but if you wanna talk , i'm, you know, here.

same here. remember that there are so many positive activities you can do to get over whatever negative feelings that you're feeling now.. like maybe just chilling with a good book or just relaxing and chilling.. in general.

hope that everything gets better.
