Post How to forget - March 25th 2010, 11:41 PM

How do you forget? Almost everything triggers memories. One minute I'll be happy and the most optimistic person in the world and the next theres tears coming down, i'm on my knees, and my chest hurts. I feel so alone, so worthless, so srupid for feeling the way I do. I just want to disappear, to stop feeling. And all because of a stupid memory.
Compared to others, what I've gone through is nothing. Nothing at all. It's insignificant. So then why do I feel the way I do? Why do I keep going back there?
Things have changed but I still feel angry. I still feel suppressed. I still feel worthless. And the worst part is, I can't say anything. Apart from the fact that I don't want to, and the words never come out, how can I bring it up again when everyone thinks that that "phase" is over.
He's changed and so have I. But then why can't I get myself to forgive? Why can't I forget? Why am I sitting here writing an entry with tears in my eyes? I've gone to a councelor and it helps but like everything, the happiness is only momentary. And I can never say what really bothers me. I can't say it. It's not too bad. The words just don't come out.

Maybe a councellor is not enough? Therapy may be a more beneficial option, seeing as they're trained not only to talk to you, but to help you find coping mechanisms for things like this.

We don't often forget things that define our lives in certain ways. We can certainly want to forget them, but forgetting them is a bother in itself.

Instead of forgetting, you need to focus on accepting that it happened instead. And when you do that, it will make you stronger. If you forget this memory then you will just end up wondering what that empty feeling deep in the pit of your stomach is anyways...

You are right.. alot of other people are worse off. Help them by helping yourself accept your self and your situation.

Take care.
