Unhappy Kinda depressed - March 27th 2010, 09:34 PM

So, I was diagnosed in seventh grade (three years ago) with low grade depression and well that was gone quick so I've been fine the past 2 and half years. But, since last year and mainly over the past six months i have been developing symptoms of something else more neurological and physical not related to depression at all but since we (my parents my doctor and myself) have only just begun testing and trying to figure this all out i have only just come to the thoughts that this could possibly end up being a terminal condition such as Huntington's. Huntington's is a degenerative disease and well is just something i'd rather kill myself before being told i have it. It's just that bad for someone of my age (16) to have to live a short life with. And, well today is the first day of my spring break this year and i've alone pretty much all day and now i'm crying because i've hit my low... i just can't keep the thoughts of dying young, rather at all really, and i hate that no one i know nor will ever know will ever understand what i'm dealing with mostly due top the fact that the likely hood that there is an answer for what's going on with my body and mind will never be totally solved and that's because my doctor and just chalk all of this up to my "choriathetosis" which is a big word for "we dont know why or how or for how long but we know you have involuntary shaking (or tremors) and spams and twitches and we dont know what else will happen to you over time." So. now im down and depressed and afraid. What can I do?!

Hey there Arielle,

I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going too well for you right now. I'm also very sorry to hear that you're suffering from the prospect of having such a condition.

I think that it would be an absolutely wonderful idea for you to talk to your doctor about how you are feeling right now. I think it's a good idea to reach out and get some help with dealing with how you are feeling. It is understandable that you are feeling low right now, especially if you are physically ill too, and it's understandable that you may need some extra support and help with dealing with these things. Please do try and reach out for help - there are many people who are available to help you come to terms with your illness and who can help you work through times that are specifically difficult for you. You do not have to be alone in this.

Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear you're going through all this. =/
But like Stephanie said i'd talk to your doctor about your feelings.
It can't be easy going through all this.
I would say try to smile about it.
I know that sounds ridiculous and impossible, but try to see the bright side of things.
Live your life to the fullest and don't fill it with regret of what you could have done.
Find more things to smile about then frown about.
Talk to your doctor about all your options and other people.
Talk out your feelings instead of holding them in. =)
I hope things get better and start looking up for you!

I'll do whatever it takes to be the mistake you can't live without.
