Talking Things are looking up. :) - May 3rd 2010, 05:40 AM

The past few weeks have been really tough on me. I was going through some family issues, I was stressing about finding work, and my boyfriend and I have been going through ups and downs recently. It was getting so bad that we were debating ending it, and we're going to further discuss our options once he comes home from school next week. And he and I have been stressing about this and it was affecting how we behaved towards each other. It was very awkward, as one could imagine.

But today, my life started to turn around.

As of today, my boyfriend and I started acting like we used to and it makes me feel a lot better. Our problems aren't gone and things won't be 100% better until next week-ish, but it's still a start.

Another awesome thing happened today. I've been a die-hard Renthead for five years now. I've seen it twice on Broadway, I've met members of the original cast, I can quote the show, and it was my spring musical my senior year of high school. I always identified with the character of Maureen, a bisexual performance artist. The character helped me come out and made me feel comfortable performing in front of an audience. I auditioned for the role and didn't receive it; I was cast in the ensemble. Then today I was surfing the web and found out that the local theatre in my area is holding open auditions for Rent at the end of the month. And learning that honestly made my day. Playing Maureen is honestly my life dream, and to get a second chance at my dream, especially at such a young age, is astounding to me. Rent means a lot to me. It saved my life my freshman year when I was suicidal. The lyrics are so powerful and this show is kinda my life. The fact that I could be a part of it for a second time excites me.

Things are looking up. Right now, I feel like I could take on the world. I feel so revitalized and full of positive energy. A pessimist by nature, for me to say that's amazing right now.

That's awesome to hear! Though I think this thread ought to be moved to the "Good Days!" forum; that's what it's there for.

That is SO awesome!! I love RENT, it's by far my favorite musical of all time! But now I love it even more knowing that it influenced your life so much! That is so wonderful that you've been able to use such a powerful play to provide happiness in your life!

Good luck on your audition! I'm jealous! You seem like you would make the PERFECT Maureen!! I want to hear how it goes! And I'm happy you and your boyfriend are getting back on track.

Keep staying strong!
