New social worker. - July 8th 2010, 02:00 PM

Sorry if this is in the wrong place!!

Basically, My old social worker was called Laura but she left at the end of May. Since then ive had three referrals to three different people but never spoke to any of them. Ive had a phonecall from them today, and spoke to someone Called Jenny whos going to be my new one. Im under child in need protection because of the mental health and emotional issues that i have and how im affected by others in my family.

Ive done it twice before, but shes coming round tomorrow, to see my and my mum. And im rreally scared. I dont know what the point is, like what she'll want to talk about. Before it was at school and i saw Laura on my own and im a bit concious she'll ask questions infront of my mum and i wont want to answer.

Just wondered if anyone had any advice? Thankss.

Just talk with her as much as you feel comfortable. Let her know you, remember that she's there to help you. Confidence is something you both have to have, remember that it's a slow process to know a person, so tell her about yourself little by little.
If you don't feel comfortable talking in font of your mum, then ask Jenny to talk first alone and not to tell your mum what you have said. She'll respect that unless she thinks you're regarding to end your life.
I hope she helps you
All the best xx
