'Feel it' - July 27th 2010, 12:29 PM

People say feel the pain, work it through. Digest it, get to the other side of it... But I feel like if I let myself feel it, if I let it all come out and it would flaw me. I wouldn't be able to make it to work, I wouldn't even want to leave the house. I'd start smoking weed daily again and start eating more again, and then my bulemia would start.

How do you deal with your demons without letting them get you down?

Maybe let it come out a little bit at a time? Start with one memory (or thought... depending on your demons)... think about it, feel the pain of just that one thing, take a couple of days, swallow it, put it aside, when you feel ready, try again.

Or maybe your demons are the ones that need to be talked through with a friend or family member. Just spill your guts one night and you might feel better... once again this depends on what type of demons you have...

Sorry I can't be more specific but you can PM me anytime

I think talking to a close friend or family member might help. Bottling all the pain and bracing against it only works for so long, it eventually builds up and overwhelms you. Feeling the pain, as in facing your fears and what upsets you most is something best worked on very gradually. You don't need to let the entire lot out at once, just start on getting through little things first and work up slowly. And it definitely helps to have support and people there for you too.

Try to have confidence and belief in yourself too. Don't fear things like it all flawing you, tell yourself you're stronger than that, that you can get through it and believe in it. Don't let your mind accept anything else.

There's a difference between simply suffering your problems and actually facing them. My advice would be to look at your problems and be entirely honest in examining them so you can fully understand them. Often simply getting to the root of your problems solves them; if not, at least you'll understand how to go about ridding yourself of them.

.
I'm not ready to trust anyone with my stuff yet. Not sure if I ever will. I don't do family and the extended family I do have have their own issues.
