Coming home for the weekend - September 4th 2010, 03:10 PM

Coming home for the long weekend is probably the worst things that's happened in my two weeks at college. Literally no one wants to see me. On top of that, just being home I can feel myself getting all depressed again. It hurts realizing that no one cares that I'm gone, and it really makes me think they wouldn't care if I were permanently gone.

Hey there,

What makes you think that no one cares? I am sure there are people in your life that care but maybe they don't really know what you want from them? Maybe you could let them know how you are feeling and see if maybe you could spend some time together.

If it is friends you are concerned about they might be swamped with homework themselves, maybe they have plans for this weekend and cannot change them etc. That does not mean they don't care though. Sit down with them and see what is going on. And if this weekend is not going to be a good time to get together maybe you could plan to get together the next time you come in.

If it is family; maybe they do, in fact, miss you but they don't want to overwhelm you with too much attention. Maybe they want you to enjoy your weekend at home. They might be worrying that if they cling to you they will end up making it harder for you to go back. Talk to them and let them know what is going on who knows what will happen.

Lastly, don't harm yourself because others might not be able to support you in the way that you need. I think it is quite possible for you to find that support outside of your immediate family and friends. You have entered into college and I am sure you can and will find some friends there. I know I have found my best friends during my college years. And, most of my high school aquaintances feel the same way. So, hang in there because you can find that support you need.

I hope this helped and if you need anything feel free to pm me.

Jenna
