Should I give up? - September 13th 2010, 02:35 AM

I feel so often lately like I can't do anything right. Not only that, but I bought a horse today who acts like a stallion. I honestly doubt I can handle him but I love him a lot and don't want to sell him. I'm in over my head and I'm an idiot. I really hate myself at the moment.
Not only that, but I feel like I'm terrible at communicating my feelings to people. I just start crying rather than acting saying whats wrong. Advice?

Sometimes emotions can be very difficult to contain. That is normal. One thing I found that helped me when I was thinking of something emotional that I wanted to convey was to turn off my internal filter and just let it all spew out. If I rehearsed what I wanted to say I would just have ended up bawling.

As for your horse. I don't think you should give up. If you feel you are over your head, try to find someone to help you a bit. Taking care of a horse can be a very rewarding experience. I can barely imagine the depth of the positive personal change that taking care of such a fine animal would have. The more difficult the problem you have to tackle the more you have to improve and the better you will feel when you inevitably succeed.

You are allowed to make mistakes. They exist solely for us to improve. It's only our western socialization that makes us prone to fear failure. It's definitely acceptable. Some of the most successful people fail in their lives, a lot. From that they learn a lot and it helps them to be where they are today.
