Ready to Give Up - December 7th 2010, 05:04 AM

My depression, once again, has taken a turn for the worse. Nothing even triggered my suicidal urges this time, they just came and they won't go away. I keep having these images go through my head about different ways I could do it. My therapist has my on close observation, I have to talk to her on the phone twice a day, I see her for individual twice a week and for group once a week. The way things are going I am probably going to end up back in the hospital. This will be my 11th psychward stay. I don't want to have to kill myself, I just can't live like this.

Hey there,

I know that things are tough right now but hang in there because you can start to feel better. Sometimes it takes a while for life to pick up but it is possible. The important thing to remember is that you are getting professional help for the things that are going on and with time you can see improvement. Sometimes when life seems really bad the best thing to do is take baby steps. Make little goals for yourself and go from there. Seeing as you are really struggling with suicidal ideation maybe you could make the goal of reaching out to someone before you harm yourself. That goal can ensure that you get the proper help for all of this.

Do you know what is causing you to feel this way? If you can work on figuring out the reasons for these things you can slowly work on finding a solution. If you cannot think of anything that is triggering this maybe you could start keeping a journal and journaling about some of the things that occurred that might have caused the issue. Why am I feel triggered today? Did something happen in the past couple of days to bring this on?

I think it would be a really good idea for you to let your therapist in on the times that you have thought about suicide. This way she will be very aware of everything going on with you. The more your therapist knows the better able she will be to help you.
