Alternative to St John's Wort. - February 28th 2011, 06:53 PM

I can't take St John's Wort because I am on the Pill and it makes in ineffective.

I am looking for something similar though because of my mild depression. I don't want to go on proper antidepressants as I would rather deal with the problem and I am seeing a counsellor but she recommended St John's Wort to help take the edge off on bad days and help me cope better in college and stuff.

I have tried herbal things like Kalms, Rescue Remedy, Natracalm and other things like that but I really don't believe they work and even if it is a placebo effect with herbal medicine because I don't believe it works so it wouldn't. I know St John's Wort is a herbal thing but because it was recommended highly by my counsellor and I have read up on it and it seems to genuinely work I wanted to give it a try.

Any Suggestions?

I don't know any specific ones but I'm pretty sure Holland and Barratt has a selection of things similar to St. John's Wort.

I don't know if you'd be interested in trying this but some aromatherapy oils can reduce anxiety and stress so you could get some of those. Lavender's a popular choice as it's said to produce a calming affect.

Take care
