suicidal thoughts - March 20th 2011, 09:50 PM

i've been kinda depressed lately. i don't know why, but i want it to stop. i feel like killing myself is the only way to do that, because i don't want to talk to someone and have them only tell me, "things will get better", because half the time things only get better for a little while, then get twice as worse than they were before.

Please don't kill yourself!

Have you considered going to your doctor about possibly having depression? They can, if nothing else, refer you to someone to help you like a counselor. That person might say "Things will get better" but you can ask them not to tell you that, and they should instead try to suggest coping strategies for you.

You can also go to school guidance counselors or teachers and talk to them.

Feeling depressed is horrible, but there are ways to cope with it. Know that you are loved and people want you to live, and many will try to help you.

If you kill yourself, you can't change anything. You won't be able to make yourself feel better, you won't be able to change your life. But if you push through this, and you can, you will be able to incite change in your life and the lives of others, you'll be able to feel happiness again, you'll be able to smile and to experience another summer and spring, you'll be able to see whatever you want to see- do you want to travel the world? Do you want to visit the zoo or a forest or an amusement park? What do you love the most? What are your goals? Or even not your goals, if you're unsure of your future. What do you WANT to do, however small? Look forward to it! You can make it happen, but only if you're alive.

Hey Dani.

If you're feeling depressed, it could be possible you actually have depression. As Pippa said, going to your doctor could definitely help with that.

It's understandable that you want this feeling to stop. It's not a pleasant feeling, I know, and maybe it feels like it won't go away. Maybe you think it won't get better. I know you said you don't want to be told it gets better, but it really does. But only if you make it.

Sure, killing yourself will make the bad feeling go away. It'll stop all the pain and the hurt that you feel. Emphasis on 'you'. It will cause so much pain and confusion and heartache for the people you'll leave behind. Think about them for a moment.

Still not convinced? Killing yourself will get rid of the bad things in your life. It will also get rid of the good. You'll have no chance to fix things, no chance to see what the world has to offer, no chance to live up to your potential.

Life is full of ups and downs. I wish I could guarantee that things from here will only be good, but I can't. It's a matter of finding a balance - finding enough good to cancel out the bad. I want you to make a list. Right now. List five things you enjoy. List five people you care about. Those are the reasons you're still here. You're still here because you're fighting, and I want you to keep doing that.

Please, take care.

Good luck.

with pace & a fury defiant.
