I have depression, I am suicidal and SH, I have a good idea that i want to go in the army. Would I get cleared to go in? I really want to. I'd rather die trying to save someone else. Either way i want want to die. Any info about this will be great

Actually, you probably wouldn't get approved to be in the Army. Part of the criteria for the Army is a physical examination, as well as a psychological examination.

If they suspect you are suicidal, or that you hurt yourself, they have grounds for dismissal, due to you being a hazard to yourself and/or others around you.

I'd suggest seeking treatment for your problems, not only to help yourself, but to work on recovery so you can try to get into the Army when you're more stable.

Well, first of all, if you've been legitimately diagnosed with Depression, and aren't getting proper treatment (they will know all this by accessing your medical records, they ARE part of the government, after all!), that alone is cause for rejection from the Army.

Second, if you self-harm, there are most likely scars/marks. They would find those in a physical examination, and from there, most likely reject you for not being stable enough.

Trust me, there is no way you can get around the Army's physical and psychological tests, if you're genuinely mentally ill and not being treated for such.

Unfortunately, Anna, there is no way. You wouldn't be medically cleared to join the Army. They are very thorough about their selection process. You have to go through several evaluations before they even consider sending you off to Basic Training: including a physical examination (where they would see that you self-harm) and psychological evaluations, where you wouldn't come up as mentally stable to join the military. All forms of military branches do this, so don't try to join another knowing that they do can dig deep into your past before they allow you to join. They do a lot of research on you before they send you away, and it would be a matter of years before you'd even get deployed. I have a lot of knowledge in the military field. My boyfriend is in the Army had to go through extensive evaluations to make sure he was cleared to be in a leadership position.
