She knows... Advice needed!! - June 20th 2011, 12:07 AM

Ok so my mom found out about my Self Harm today. She is taking me to the doctors next week. After the initial shock and freak out, she was calm and reasonable. (for now) This is a good thing right? I am getting help. So why am I so scared? I don't know how to do this. It doesn't feel real...

Glad to hear (well read! ) that she's calmed down! It's a great thing, and I'm glad she's taking you seriously. My guess would be you're scared because it's something new and unknown - most times when we don't know what an outcome will be we get nervous and frightened. It's normal! Keep your chin up, everything will be ok!

Thanks I am literally Freaking out. Telling her was bad enough, but since she discovered it I just had to find my voice. It was a little lost...

That's perfectly understandable. And it's difficult, I know, but it's much better to have it out in the open so you can work on getting better. Which I'm sure you will, you're a very strong wonderful person!

And remember, my PM box is always open

It serves a lot of functions in my life. I use it as a way to punish myself, I use it as a way to medicate myself, I use it for the tension release when things get too strong or too built up. –ditto

I think it's a really good thing that she did find out. Ever since I told my parents a few months ago, I've found that things are a lot easier. But it's totally normal to be scared about this whole situation. But I'm so glad to hear that you're getting help! PM me if you ever need anything!

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy." They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life." --John Lennon

"What matters isn't that you fell, but that you got back up. No matter how many times it takes, it's that you get back up. We fall down and all isn't lost." --Renee Yohe
