Exclamation Help? Please? - June 29th 2011, 09:48 PM

I have depression and have had it for a few years. I've talked to my mom but she doesn't know what to do. I'm not comfortable talking to a therapist, or psychiatrist. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can possibley fix this problem?

I am sorry=( I think though Alyssa you should REALLY talk to a professional. I know you are scared and stuff but I think it will really help you get better. They know what they are doing better than anyone. I myself need to see one for my anxiety and possible OCD and depression. Another thing you could do though for the time being is tell a close friend that you trust. The only problem with telling friends is it can be hard for them too. I know from firsthand experience. BUT, I also tell my friends when something is going on with me, usually more than my parents and it DOES help. It does wonders. You just gotta go to a friend who you know you can trust and who will never judge you.

Hey there,

The fact that you have had this depression for a few years and that you have already tried talking to your mom suggest you need to see a proffessional. I know that may sound scary but it would help in the long run, it is their job and they would know what to do and how to help you.
Also maybe you should try talking to your mom again, explain to her how you are feeling so that she can help and support you through this. Also perhaps talking to a different adult you trust, such as a relative or a teacher - someone that you feel comfortable confiding in.
You CAN do this, believe in yourself and stay strong.
Feel free to PM me if you ever want/need to talk,

Take care,
Charli

Charli and Minnie both gave really good advice here.

I do think that you should try and talk to someone. I know that it does seem scary at first, I was so scared the first time I went but I actually became really close to the woman I went to see.

It can help you a lot to just talk to someone with no judgement. I hope things get better for you..
