Rambling how i feel continued - February 27th 2012, 08:31 AM

I was going to post in my last thread but for some reason it has been locked
http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f11-d...ng-how-i-feel/

But anyway, i seen the doctor today and counselling is being arranged but will take a few weeks and i have been given CITALOPRAM 20mg and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these tablets they can share with me?

Going back to the doc in 2 weeks until then, lets see how these go.

Hi Craig,

first of all, congratulations for trying to do something about your situation

Citalopram is an antidepressant, and as most of them it is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which means hopefully it will make your brain produce more serotonin and therefore improve the feelings of well being. Take the pills just as prescribed by your doctor and try not to skip the taking or leave the treatment without asking your doctor. Every person reacts differently to medication, but normally it doesn't need to cause a negative effect, so try it for some time and see if it works.

It is also important to go to some therapy or psychologist, because as you know, some pills aren't going to solve all your problems... Give a try to the treatment and to the counselling, I'm sure it will help to some extent! And if you need anything don't hesitate to write.

Yea I hope things will start looking up soon, gotta go get my tablets from the chemist now and will start them tomorrow or tonight, not really sure which as the doc didnt say.

Silvia i wont stop taking them without my docs say so and will do by best to remember to take them everyday.

Ill let you know more about the counselling sessions as soon as i find out more myself

It depends when you take the med if it makes you sleepy take it at night if it does not make you sleepy then take it during the day.

Great job on finding help and trying some meds. Thats the first step in getting better your on your way to feeling better and healing. I have tried zoloft, seroquel, lexapro and ablifiy. Im now currently on just abilify for my mood disorder. Works pretty good. Never been on your med but if you have questions ask your med therapist. Also if the med is not helping then you need to tell your med therapist that so she can get you on a med that helps.Great Job again in seeking help. Hope it works out.

It really depends how your body reacts to the meds, basically...it just depends! And yeah, listen to Lauri because it may affect your sleepiness

Re: Rambling how i feel continued - February 27th 2012, 04:45 PM

Diffrent for every one Craig. Dont think negative thoughts about this med. Just let it run its course and hey you never know you may not get side effects. Or you may get a simple headache and thats your only side effect.

For me but every one is diffrent. I barley get any side effects sometimes none at all I guess Im one of the lucky ones. I do pretty good on meds. I sometimes see a change in 4 days but that could be me just thinking somethings diffrent. Yes give your med time to adjust to your body your right craig give it time. Im just saying dont give up on it if it doesnt work or make you feel good. Many people say my med doesnt work and just give up. I dont want you to do that because that is silly if it doesnt work then just tell your med therapist and they will get you on a med that does work. You need to be open to your med therapist tell her eveyrthing the med is making you feel the bad the good. Because the more info she knows on how it makes you feel the more she can help you and get you on the right med that will make you feel good. Hope that helped

If you have to change it to taking it at night instead of during the day or visa versa because of tired ness. I think it will be okay because its a one time switch. Lots of professionals say go ahead and switch it to day or night.

EVERYTHING WILL HAVE SIDE EFFEECTS. Its because nothing in life is perfect. Dont let it turn you off because like I said you may get no side effects or just a simple head ache or whatever. Good luck Well If your tired you could try taking them at bed time instead of duing the day.
