Is this a bad sign? - March 23rd 2012, 08:03 PM

So, I was walking to class yesterday, holding my usual book and pencil, and I had an amazing urge, greater than almost anything I've ever had, to jab the pencil into my neck. It was scary. I saw myself actually do it, but when I caught my mind again, I hadn't moved my hand at all, if that makes any sense. It was really weird and scary. Should I be worried?

The short answer is: Maybe.

Urges, feelings, thoughts, fantasies, etc., cannot get you into trouble, nor are they necessarily worrisome.....as long as you keep them safely in your head. They're only a problem when you cross that line and turn them into actions or behaviors.

The important things here are to make sure you keep them in your head...and also to try to figure out what would cause you to think them in the first place. That way, you can address the cause of them, and not be bothered by the urge.
