I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have experienced pet loss and I know of some people who have also experienced pet loss, too. I think you should wait a while before thinking about getting another guinea pig. If and when you do get another guinea pig, you can name it anything you want to name it. But, I do advise you not to name your new guinea pig after the one that died as it will bring back too many bad memories.

Hey there.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is never easy, and it's perfectly natural for you to be sad. My advice is: let yourself feel sad. Give yourself time to come to terms with it, to grieve properly (because s/he wasn't 'just a pet'). Maybe try making a scrapbook, or having a 'funeral', or even just talking about it with people who knew the little piggy.

Like Cathy, I would advise against getting another one right away. For a start, your mind is still caught up in your previous pet, and you might accidentally project expectations onto the new one - and then be disappointed when your new pet isn't exactly like your old one. I would wait until you're okay with the loss of your previous piggy before you even think about getting a new one. And as for names, wait until you have him/her and then think of a name that matches them.

Take care.

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss.
Like Cathy and Chessmaid said, maybe wait until you've stopped grieving before getting another pet.
When and if you do get a new Guinea Pig you could look up different names for it and see which one best suits it your new pet.
I hope I helped.
