Basically I woke up this morning to a kitchen floor covered in dog poop. Not normal dog poop though sick doggy diarrhea. So that made me throw up straight away because the smell was disgusting and I rang my Mum at work and she said it was the same this morning when she woke upand she had cleaned it up. So I had to clean it up, I threw up again twice.
Since then she has had diarrhea once more and threw up 3 times. She is also drooling and slobbering a lot. Now the main problem is when cleaning it up I noticed blood in the poop. This is really worrying me, she is a very old dog and her health has slowly been getting worse. Over the past few month I have been preparing myself because she won't last much longer. Is this a major sign something is wrong? I know you can't diagnose her and we have an appointment for the vet later on today but I am panicking right now and just need help calming down. I am also worrying about dehydration, she is throwing up and has constant diarrhea. She isn't drinking or eating and when she does it comes straight back out again. I know people take the oral rehydration solutions but what do you do for dogs? |

Hey (:
Dont panic. The vet will know whats up (: It could be linked to anything...these sort of symptoms... -sunstroke - eaten dodgy stuff.. - snake bite...ect. Let us know how your doggy is...and pm me any time (: Claire x |

Hi Rachel,
Just take some deep breaths and do your best to calm down. Like you said, the vet will be able to diagnose what's going on with your dog right now and probably give her something for it. For now, I would suggest keeping your dog outside for a while. Do you have a closed off backyard that she could spend some time in? It would be a good way to have the floors stay clean. Keep her company and try to make her feel better. Good luck! I hope she's okay. Nat. ![]() The great artists of our time are the ones who created something timeless. I'm sorry about your dog. It's good that you have an appointment with the vet. One thing that I want to suggest to you is putting down newspaper on the floor and confining her to a room. It'll save you some mess. I wouldn't put her outside, at least not where I am at. It is very hot outside here and I wouldn't want a sick puppy in the heat.
I'm not sure what to do if she isn't holding food or water. It is best to call your vet or an emergency hotline for more information. Hotlines can be found here. |

Hey everyone.
The vet wasn't much help he just said to starve her for 24 hours and see how she is.(We were already doing that, what a waste of £50 at the vets) She seems fine this morning though and it seem like a 24 bug or something she has eaten. I just have to see what happens when she eats something and see if she can keep it down. She hasn't been sick or anything since last night and she is just her normal happy self again. I think everything is OK so this can be closed now. |
