Something is wrong with my dog. - March 26th 2018, 07:29 PM

So I have a pure-bred boxer named Kai and he is around 7-9 years old. Yesterday I was called into the living room to find Kai laying on the ground in a puddle of pee. He struggled to get up and was so embarrassed and my stepdad had to give him a bath and extra water. I don't know if he is sick or just getting old or what, but that definitely scared me and made me realize that my dog could be gone soon.

The best thing to do is to take your dog to the vet and ask them for their opinion as to what might have happened. They'll be able to help you if it does happen again and what to do to avoid it.

I hope that helps.

Hey! I'm so sorry that's happening. From my experience, if he's having trouble getting up on his own, it's usually a sign that their age is getting to them and it might soon be his time. I'm sorry I hate to say that, I know that fear too well, but nine is an old age for a dog, especially for the larger breeds.
Can he walk at all, and if so is he limping? It could have something to do with his joints, and fish oils are good for that. You could try a supplement, or just get him the dog food/treats with salmon or other fish in them. My dog is also nine, and I do this for him and it's really helped.
Anyway I'm really sorry, I'm sure he's a great dog and I can see you love him, so cherish him while he's with you, no matter how long it may be. Good luck.

Hey there,

It can be hard when an animal gets older because you do start to realize that they are not going to be with you much longer. I think that getting the dog into a vet would be a good idea. The vet can help you all determine if there is anything wrong with the dog. I think it is better to go in and check so that you aren't stressing too much especially if the dog is not sick.

Best regards.
