My pony!(pic heavy) -
July 31st 2009, 03:39 AM
![]() This is Loki. I've had him for about three years now, and I've been riding consecutively for about 12 years now and haven't had more than a 2 week hiatus. I'm moving to Brooklyn next year for school - and am a little bit at a loss, I'm trying to find reasonably priced stabling arrangements within 45 minutes from NYC - but it doesn't look optimistic, so Loki may have to stay home with my riding coach - it sounds corny but I feel a little like I'm leaving a little bit of myself behind - I don't know life without horses .I usually look a little bit like a stuck-up prick when I ride - but I had come straight from school when I took these pictures and was dressed semi-normally. ![]() Trotting along. ![]() I quite like this picture - despite it's fuzziness ![]() I absolutely HATE the way I'm riding in this picture - but the backround is pretty. It was taken at a competition last summer, somewhere between getting thrown into a jump in the warm-up ring and rearing up in another class. And just because this is a pet thread... ![]() the devil incarnate? yeah, pretty much.

Awwww he's gorgeous. I LOVE horses and I completely understand you not wanting to leave him for too long.

Thankyou! It is going to be a tough transition - and it will make life a lot easier if I have him with me, and luckily, there are several stables in Brooklyn. Still, I just want him to be happy and comfortable - and if that means staying where he is, so be it I'm extremely lucky that my parents are willing to continue to pay for his board regardless of which state he's in! Don't let her fool you I actually found her when my friend and I took the horses for a ride down the road - we saw a sign that said 'free kittens' outside a house. So my friend held the horses while I rang the doorbell.. and then I told my parents I found her on a heavy truck-trafficking road! skydiversinreverse ![]() |

He looks like a real winner, your very lucky.
How tall is he? I bet he wins you tons of ribbons He's sooo pretty I'd love to have a horse of my own but I've been forced to ride other peoples horses. =/ I'm sorry if you end up leaving him when you move Is there anyway you could go back and see him every now and then? |

Just a smidgeon under 16 hands - so he's not that massive compared to a lot of the other horses in the barn And thankyou so much! He is a good boy - we did Hunters and Eq for a little bit to get him some exposure, and he's making his showjumping debut this Fall - I think he'll fit in a little bit better there haha - he's a little bit on the quirky side for the Hunter/Eq. peeps Riding lots of different horses is really good for you, it's probably made you a really strong efficient rider! What discipline(s) do you ride? skydiversinreverse ![]() |

Awwww he is utterly gorgeous. I used to do show-jumping at pony club and he looks almost exactly like the horse I used to ride. I love the fact that you named him after a norse god; I called my cat Persephone-freya.

He looks like he'd have a good back spring on him to get him over the jumps. I ride English and plan to event once I get more experience and riding in. So far I've only made it to a canter because I only get to ride from January to late May. This upcoming January will be my third "year" riding. I guess total I've only been riding a year but whatever. |

Jumping is such an adrenaline rush! Eventing will put hair on your chest haha - but if you like thrills, than you'll love it!
I evented(on one of the coolest horses EVER - he knew exactly what to do when I had no clue) for a year or so before I got Loki- who likes to jump, but just isn't suited to the cross-country phase(we'll stay inside a fenced area, thanks! =D). My favorite thing was going down the drop-offs - it felt like a rollercoaster! One of the best feelings in the world is the 'hang-time' you get over a big oxer - it feels like the whole world just stops mid-air =D. skydiversinreverse ![]() |
