Black moor or similar goldish. PLEASE READ. - August 30th 2009, 03:50 AM

Okay. So I have this HUGE Black moor goldfish. He's about a year old and he's perfectly healthy. But he's the weirdest fish I've EVER seen. I have regular gravel in his tank along with larger plastic rocks which he can easily move. Everytime I clean his tank I spread the rocks out and within an hour ALL the larger plastic rocks are pushed into the front left corner. Now that might not seem all the wierd. Now I feed him normal fish flakes as well as blood worms and peas. He eats the flakes and the other things. But one day I noticed him filling his mouth with the worms and peas and moving them over to the pile of rocks and spitting them out there then pushing the big rocks over them. Now I've researched A LOT about this fish. And nowhere have I found something that mentions this. I would just like to know if anyone else has seen this behavior. It's quite silly.

I haven't seem them do it with food, but when I had large plastic rocks in my tank (I had various types of goldfish), they also always got piled up in one part of the tank. Occassionally I'd catch the fish pushing them around. I have no idea why though.

hmm that is unusual! i know quite a bit about fish but i've never known them to do that! are there other fish in the tank?? it could be he's taking the food to his part of the tank (his territory) or mabye he's saving the food. it sounds odd. i doubt it's anything to worry about, unless he isn't eating, that could be a sign of internal bacteria or something else but still,it doesn't explain that behavoir,he sounds like a cute fish though

Haha! That's really cute. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless he stops eating. It's most likely that you just have a very quirky fish. It happens with all types of pets. I would like to meet this fish.

I dont know if this is the reason. but goldfish and siamese fighting fish get bored of their tank layouts very often. and you are meant to change them round with every water change. anyways he might be doing half the work for you and moving them round to change the look of the tank. Or he might be getting some fun out of doing this and thats why. As long as he isnt swimming funny or acting any different then normal (apart from moving things round) and eating okay then I shouldnt worry too much
