Any idea how to get kitten to stop biting? -

Okay so I got a new kitten and she is 8 months old now. She is adorable and I love her so much. After my whole life of begging my mom to let me get a cat, she finally gave in, but now she is regretting it. My kitten bites every time you try to pick her up. She jumps on the counter and table and tries to eat food out of the sink. Also, she scratches on the couch when I have a scratching post with catnip right next to it. So any ideas how to get my cat to stop bitting me? It's getting annoying. Any other advice would be good too thanks!

have you tried spraying your cat with water everytime she tries to bite? that might help since many cats don't like water. she'll eventually get the message that it's not o.k to bite.
i have a friend who has a cat. when she would bite, he'd lightly tap her head and say NO firmly. that really helped. maybe you can try that if the water thing doesn't work? good luck! |

My friend said to use hot sauce on wherever the kitten bites, I'm not sure if giving hot sauce to a kitten is very nice though
 But it did make his kitten stop bitting. Also a light flick on the nose works. Just don't do it hard, it's kind of a sensitive area. We tried with my dog, but it's a similair context, putting mustard on whatever she bites. It worked for all my friends pets, but my dog opted to just lick the mustard off my hand. He stopped biting naturally though :P
