Is there any way to stop my cat from killing? - December 8th 2009, 12:12 PM

I know cats are natual hunters and it's somewhat mean of me to want to stop him I'm just sick of seeing dead rats/mice/voles/birds around my house I used to have a pet mouse and loads of hamsters so seeing my cat kill them pains me. He has also tried to kill a small Rabbit o_____O He failed and it was just bleeding (I saved him in time) My dad has told me he has also brought in a dead bat O_____o how on earth can he kill a bat?

We tried to keep him in all day/night on bonfire night as we thought the noises would scare him. He just whined until we let him out. He has also managed to break out through the kitchen window.

Woah. Your cat broke through the kitchen window!? :O

I'm not sure that there's a way to keep them from hunting. One of my close friends has two and since she's a Buddhist (and very against killing), she has tried to stop them but to no avail. It's just a part of their nature so.. I'm not sure that you could stop it. You could try not letting him out though. And if that doesn't work, don't let him in? I'm not sure how sharp house cats are... but he may get the message if you show open distaste for his 'activities'.

I've been seeing you in my dreams lately
But you're always on the periphery,
Out of reach.

My parents are Buddhists too, so they hate seeing him do it as well We have a cat flap, so he comes back and for as he pleases. Yep, he managed to get out of the window when it was closed once O_____o I have no idea how.
