Of course. My cat is a family member in my eyes, not just a "pet". =) So, naturally, if you had a child that needed something like surgery or anything you'd get it for them- same with my cat. I spent over $500 trying to solve her belly licking problem. SO- I am pretty darn dedicated ^^ I loves her.

I'm so sad that i can fully agree with you...and I don't even HAVE a cat. But when I get one I totally will. (:

Yea, I got my little guy when he was too young to be away from his mother. I've raised him to be the wonderful cute terror he is today LOL. He was infested with fleas when I got him and I gave him dawn dish soap baths and baby oil baths to suffocate the fleas and then sat for HOURS combing out the fleas, and then wrapping him in a towel on a heating pad cuddling him. Then when he was old enough to use a flea spray on, he had a severe allergic reaction to it - burnt his skin and made him vomit (yes I followed the directions EXACTLY). So I held him down in the bathtub and bathed him with baby shampoo to get rid of the flea spray. And then held him and sobbed for days calling myself a terrible mother for making him sick. I held him in a towel for 3 days crying, feeding him, bathing him, brushing him, kissing him, crying some more.... he's my everything. I love that little booger eater. He's my baby.

My cats are my best friends, I'm 19 and well on my way to being the crazy cat lady. I'm just a softy for furry friends. The 5 cats I have right now are the world to me, I've had one for 8 years who is a rescue, one I hand raised one from 2 weeks old, his mom left him and his 2 sisters in a neighbors yard, one that a friends cat had that I helped nurse to health from a day old, one I found in a kayak at 3 weeks old, and a stinker I got from the SPCA. I would do ANYTHING for my kitties. I still cry when ever I think about my little guy I lost last year.

Re: I love my cat - December 19th 2009, 02:32 AM

I feel the same way about my dog. Sometimes, even if it sounds corny, I feel exceptionally close to him, because he's the only one who sees me both at my best, and at my worst. And he still loves me no matter what I look like, what my mental health problems might be, how tired and cranky I am in the mornings, etc. Whenever I'm around my dog and I start crying about something, he comes up to me and starts to lick my tears. He probably just likes the water, but it still is really comforting to me and makes me laugh! I don't consider my dog "just a pet." He's a part of the family, and God knows I'd miss him just as much as I would miss a best friend if he were no longer around.
