Hey there =]

Lets go through this in stages, with a few tips to start with =]

Always teach your Pup the command ''No'' and NEVER use the puppies name when disciplining as this gives a negative association to his/her name =]

Use treats and toys as rewards, and always use a cheery girly voice =]

Ok, So the basics of Training.

Sit
Have a treat and hold above your dogs nose. Rise it up and back, and put gentle pressure on your dogs bum. Give the command sit, and reward when the command is followed.

Down
There are a few ways of doing this...
- Bring a treat under your dogs nose and down to the floor, then start to push the treat towards your dog, this will make him/her lie down to be able to reach the treat.

Recall

Have plenty of treats or toys for this!! Also I advise strongly on training to a whistle - they can be heard easier than you shouting on a windy day.

Start this training in your house or back garden. Get down on your hands and knee's and REALLY cheerfully shout your pets name followed be ''Come''. Hold a treat in the palm of your hand out in front of you so they can see it clearly. When the come reward them and try again. Once you have this basic recall you can start training with the whistle. Blow the whistle once or twice, in short sharp bursts, and give the command come. When the command is followed reward. Gradually you will be able to whistle without having to shout ''COME'' =]

Stay

Be sure to have recall before training this =] Again start this training in your house or back yard. Give the command sit, then stay. Take a few steps back say ''Good Boy/Girl'' and then ask your dog to come. Then Reward. You can gradually build up the distance.

Toilet Training

Again there are few different methods of training this. A good one is to get your puppy a crate or cage, line one end with newspaper and the other end with it's bed.

FACT: It is very rare for a dog to soil his/her own bed.

Your dog will always use the newspaper as it's toilet when in the cage. Reward the dog when he/she uses the paper. You can then move the paper outside, and reward when he/she goes outside.

Along similar lines you can buy training pads.

After feeding your puppy, take them straight outside and give the command ''Wee Wee's'' or ''Be Quick'' (The command for going to the toilet). When your dog goes to the toilet outside, reward and give treats =]

Email me for more info on this =]

No Biting

The answer to this is kind of in the title. The word ''NO'' is very important here. If your puppy bites, say no loudly and make a noise that is likely to get his/her attention, like clapping or hissing.

Another popular method is that if your puppy begins to chew your hand, move your fingers to the very back of his/her mouth, where his/her teeth haven't fully developed yet, it will annoy the puppy greatly that he/she isn't able to chew you.

Again, Email me for more information =]

Also - if your puppy chews furniture be sure to pick up a bitter spray - they can be bought in most pet shops and supermarkets.

If you have any more questions just contact me, or post again here =]

It is ALWAYS advisable to go to puppy lessons though =]

Must have been a miracle
It's been one hell of a ride
Destination still unkown
It's a fact of life: If you make one wrong move with a gun to your head
You better walk the line or you'll be left for dead.

I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back
Thats right.
I got away with it all and I'm still alive.
Let the end of the world come tumbling down.
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
As long as hot blood runs through my veins
I'm still alive.

Also with the no biting, if the pup is play fighting and biting your hands, squeek really really loudly and as high pitched as you can. Garunteed this will make her stop immedieatly. This is what litter mates do when they bite each other too hard during play

Good luck with your pup!!!

whatever you do, dont yell at the dog, even though as a dog trainer, i understand the want to. dog's ears are SOOO much more sensitive than a humans. you could whisper a comand and it could hear it clearly.

if the dog does something "bad": have a cleaned out soda can [wanna get the syrup out] let it dry completely. put THIRTEEN pennies in it. it has to be 13. and tape the top over with something. the sound it makes would be to them like fingers on a chalk board to us.

NEVER use your hand's while telling it no. hands should only be used for affection.

if it's jumping on you or people put you knee up so it comes to the brest bone NOT the face. and he/she will catch on fast.

if it goes potty in the house, clean it up fast and try not to do it in front of the dog, he/she will then assume it's your job to clean up after him/her. take it out back and rub wht grass with it. and then take your dog to the spot, if he/she sniffs it love on it and tell it "good dog". ANYTIME your dog calls attention to something they did outside congratulate it!! it REALLY good it recognizes potty messes are outside things!

there are MANY more tricks and tid bits. if you like you can PM me anytime!!

good luck and congratulations!!

LOVE!
ella
