What is this dog sport called?

What is this dog sport called? It's where a tunnel is dug into the ground, and at one end is a rat in a cage, and behind bars, and then you let your dog, usually dachshunds or small terriers, go into the tunnel to find the rat? Also, how can I find out if there are any groups in my area that do this? Are mixed breeds allowed? I want to do something with my two dogs. I thought about agility for my dachshund mix, but, he is not very good at learning new commands. I had a hard enough time teaching him the basic obedience. He loves to do anything he physically can, even going up and down the slide at the park, but I don't command him to do it, he just does it cause he thinks it's fun. But, something he and my half jack russell terrier mix love to do is go after the gophers that live near the canal by my house. There's this big empty lot next to the canal and the gophers live there. My two dogs go crazy digging at the holes trying to make them big enough so they can fit into them. Of course, they never manage to fit and I don't let them stick more than their heads into the holes. But, I think something like this sport would be fun for them and for me.

The sport is called "Earthdog Trials", terriers and dachshunds usually enter the races.
