Cockatiel Problem? - February 3rd 2010, 02:40 AM

Well I have a Cockatiel and he's been puking up seeds for a long time now...about 2 years to be exact. They look like whole seeds, it's not very much, and then he eats it right after. I think if he were dying he would have passed by now.
I give him vitamins, I clean his cage, I take good care of him and pay attention to him, I don't know what else I can do to make him stop. Is this normal, what he's doing? I don't really have the money to take him to a Vet right now so I don't know what I should do. I'm just worried, I looked up stuff on the internet and I couldn't find anything.

Unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about birds. =( Perhaps it simply can't tolerate a particular kind of seed... you could try removing individual seeds each week. If it stops vomiting by the end of the week, then you could assume that the seed you've removed from its diet was the problem. The only other thing that comes to mind is heavy metal poisoning, if the water isn't being changed/if the bowl isn't being cleaned on a regular enough basis.

If you do a Google search for "cockatiel forum", you may have better results. I found quite a few that are fairly active. =) Good luck!
