Changing a horses name at 11? -
April 10th 2010, 08:21 PM
Sorry for another post about my horse I'm getting. I just have a question for those of you here who love horses or know alot about horses. So they horses name is already Babe. Personally I don't like it, plus the barn I'll be keeping her at theres another horse with the same name. So I want to changeit to something else. I was thinking Belle or Etnie. The problem is, can I still do this even though she's 11? I'd love some name suggestions. Heres a picture!
And she fights so you won't ignore her, 'cause thats her biggest fear. Support Love<3 Keep your head up gorgeous, they'll kill to see you fall.. |

I dont know much about horses, but they do have their names changed - they are intelligent animals, and would soon adapt.
She might adapt quicker if you pick a name that sounds similar - like Jade? Lets see what the more 'horsey' people on here say
I'm still alive.
Must have been a miracle It's been one hell of a ride Destination still unkown It's a fact of life: If you make one wrong move with a gun to your head You better walk the line or you'll be left for dead. I'm a runaway train on a broken track I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back Thats right. I got away with it all and I'm still alive. Let the end of the world come tumbling down. I'll be the last man standing on the ground As long as hot blood runs through my veins I'm still alive. |

You can change their name all you want, but I doubt she'll learn that it's her name. She's already 11, and you can probably assume that she's had that name since she was born.
I know people who's horses have one name, but they show them with a completely different name. ![]() I've found the one who completes me. This love is like nothing I've ever felt before. <3 |

Animals don't actually respond to a name, they respond to the tone of voice, and when trained associate sounds as callings.
for example, my dog is called ben, but he will respond to any name so long as its said in the same tone we use to call him. |

There's no problem with changing a horse's name. The main point of names is to have to something to refer them as, so it doesn't really even matter if they respond to the name or not. Horses tend to take physical cues rather than verbal ones anyway.

Yeah, I'm sure she'd adapt just fine. She just might need some time to get used to it.
