Question scratch - May 8th 2010, 08:31 PM

ok so a while ago, like 2 or 3 weeks ago, my dog got a little too close to a cat and got scratched. it healed, but now he keeps licking it, making it bleed. he is also panting, but i dont know if that means something, or if he is hot from the beautiful weather we seem to be getting. should i be worried? needs help

Hey, Sorry no-one replied to your post sooner!

When you say a cat - was it cat that you know, or a stray cat? If it's not a cat that you know personally, then I'd get your dog checked out, just incase the cat isn't vaccinated.
As with humans, healing scars do itch, but if your dog keeps on pestering the scratch, then maybe just pop into the vets just incase. My general rule if it irritates the dog for a more than a week - then get it checked out!

I'm still alive.
Must have been a miracle
It's been one hell of a ride
Destination still unkown
It's a fact of life: If you make one wrong move with a gun to your head
You better walk the line or you'll be left for dead.

I'm a runaway train on a broken track
I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back
Thats right.
I got away with it all and I'm still alive.
Let the end of the world come tumbling down.
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
As long as hot blood runs through my veins
I'm still alive.

the panting means he's sweating...
try covering the scar....Dogs get into picking habits and will lick the same spot because they feel they have too... if that doesn't help take him to a vet...
it may be infected... use triple antibiotic ointment.
